Project Online switched off on 30 September 2026

Access to the service, and to the project data inside it, ended that day. Microsoft's own onward path is Planner Premium, which is a step down for anyone using timesheets, resource pools or portfolio governance.

The tool you were using got retired out from under you

ShareGate retired provisioning entirely on 29 August 2025. Valo reached end of life on 31 July 2025. If you built your project sites on either one, you are replacing it whether that was this year's plan or not.

1. We set up the register and the template

The Projects list goes into your tenant, and the master site is configured to match how your projects actually run.

2. Your project lead adds a project

A row in the register: name, dates, owner. The same thing they would have emailed IT about.

3. The workspace is built

Client site when needed, project folder and Teams channel, permissions, content types, lists, libraries, navigation, Planner board and home page, in one run, from the master site.

4. The register keeps the map

The project record links to its workspace and its board, so the register stays the index of everything rather than a list nobody updates.

100% Upgrade Credit

Move up a tier within 90 days and everything you paid for the tier below is credited toward the one above, up to the full amount, once per customer. Moving up adds scope. It does not replace anything you already bought.

Maintenance and updates

Not a bug fix contract. It is the work of keeping a provisioning engine running while Microsoft changes what it provisions into. Microsoft deleted the multi tenant PnP Management Shell application on 9 September 2024, and every tool built on it stopped working that day. Offered on the quote at signature, so nobody has to remember to ask later.

What ProjectPoint Is Not

We would rather you found this out here than in month three.

Not a scheduling engine. No critical path, no baselines, no resource levelling. If that is the need, Microsoft's tools do it and we will point you there.

Not tenant wide governance. No sprawl reporting, no permissions auditing, no guest lifecycle, and no archival of finished sites. Those are a different product, a different buyer and usually a different budget.

Not a billing system. Rates, invoicing export and utilisation live at the Platform tier only. If time to rate to invoice is the whole job, a billing engine is a better fit today.

Not a Project Online migration path.Not a live link to Project Online. ProjectPoint does not connect to Project Online, and no tool can reach Project Online data after 30 September 2026. We load the data you exported instead, as the data migration add-on.

Not multi template. There is one master site. Selection by project type is not built.

Not retroactive. Template improvements are not re applied to sites already provisioned. A site built in month one does not receive month nine's template.

Not an approval workflow. There is no approval routing for a submitted project timesheet at any tier.

Project Online Is Discontinued. Here Is the Honest Version.

Project Online shut down on 30 September 2026, and access to the project data inside it went with the service. If you exported before that date, keep those files somewhere you control, whoever you end up buying from.

If you did export, check that your files hold at least:

Project and task data, including custom fields
Timesheet and actual work history, which is the part nobody can reconstruct later
Resource pool and assignment records
Enterprise custom fields and lookup tables
Anything sitting in project sites: documents, risks, issues and deliverables
Saved reports and their underlying queries, so you know what people were actually measuring

Keep them in something boring and readable. CSV and Excel age better than a proprietary backup format from a vendor you may not be using in two years.

ProjectPoint does not migrate Project Online data. We migrate from your export, not from Project Online. No tool can reach into Project Online after 30 September 2026, ours included. We work from the files you exported, such as Excel, CSV or Microsoft Project files. Projects, people and time history load into ProjectPoint's lists. Everything else stays readable as files on the project site. We quote this as the data migration add-on, and on the first call we will tell you what your export can and cannot carry.

After that, ProjectPoint is the workspace your projects run in, standing up in days rather than in a procurement cycle. If your projects are about to have nowhere to live, that is the conversation worth having.

Why Not Just Use Planner Premium?

Planner Premium is a scheduling engine

It answers what tasks, in what order, by when. That is a real job and it does it properly. It does not answer where the documents live, who has access to them, what the risks are, who the stakeholders are, or what was decided and why.

It stores in Dataverse, not SharePoint

So there is no project site, no document library, no content types, no site columns, no navigation and no permissions model attached to the project, and no risk, stakeholder or decision register at any tier. Project for the Web, the closest thing to a SharePoint story, retired in August 2025.

We are not competing with the Gantt chart

If what you need is critical path, baselines and resource levelling, buy Microsoft's and we will tell you so in the first call. ProjectPoint provisions the workspace and creates the Planner board inside it. Most teams end up running both.

How Long It Takes

Registry and Portfolio are self install, so the software is running the same afternoon you buy it. What takes time is the template, and that depends on:

How settled your project structure already is
Whether you are bringing an existing site to use as the master site
How many permissions groups and content types need to be reflected
Whether data migration or change management communications are in scope

Most master site builds land in one to three weeks. We work iteratively so you are provisioning real projects early.

Can you migrate our Project Online data?

Yes, from your export. ProjectPoint does not connect to Project Online, and no tool can reach Project Online data after 30 September 2026, so we work from the files you exported. Projects, people and time history load into ProjectPoint's lists. Schedules, costs and custom fields stay as readable files on the project site. We quote this as the data migration add-on.

Who on our side needs to be involved?

Someone who can import a solution into a Power Platform environment and sign in as a SharePoint site owner to run setup once. After that, your project leads run it and nobody needs administrator rights to start a project.

Does this add a third-party app to our tenant?

No. There is no new subscription, no new data processor and no OAuth grant sitting on your tenant. Everything runs on the Microsoft 365 you already pay for.

Can we keep using Teams, Planner and our other tools?

Yes. ProjectPoint provisions the workspace and seeds the Planner board inside it, so the tools your team already knows sit inside the governed site rather than beside it.

What happens when Microsoft changes SharePoint?

That is exactly what maintenance covers. Microsoft deleted the multi tenant PnP Management Shell application on 9 September 2024 and every tool built on it stopped working that day. Maintenance is offered on the quote at signature.

Can we buy the provisioning now and add the rest later?

The sites are still there, the lists are still readable, and the data still exports to Excel. That is not a promise about our longevity; it is a structural fact about where the data sits.
